SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the full cycle accounting for Oberalp North America. The role will work directly with the Finance and Administration Manager to ensure timely and accurate month and year-end close activities through preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly close reporting. The role will support the department by overseeing duties relating to accounts payable, sales commissions, employee expenses, balance sheet reconciliations, and income and sales tax topics. The role will collaborate with all interoffice departments to implement and enforce internal controls.
 
 
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

The main responsibilities of the Senior Accountant will be accounts payable management, balance sheet reconciliations, sales agent commissions, employee expense reporting, and tax preparation.

  • Vendor Management
  • Process purchase invoices and payments
  • Sales Agent Commissions – Calculation and Reporting
  • Employee Expenses – Controlling and Reporting
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Bank Account Reconciliations
  • Intercompany Reconciliation
  • Manage Contractor W9s
  • File annual 1099s
  • Tax Preparation and Filing - Washington & Canada
  • Internal Audits of journal entry accuracy
  • Prepare month-end journal entries
  • Cashflow planning
  • Support Monthly and Yearly Close
  • Support Finance and Admin Manager as needed
  • Support Oberalp Management team as needed
  • Support Evolv brand and Yosemite Bum resole as needed
  • Support Accounts Receivable and collections as needed
  • Responsible for miscellaneous office management tasks
  • Ad-hoc reporting and analysis
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 5+ years of Accounting experience preferred
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, procedures, and practices in Accounting, including US GAAP and general ledger / month-end processes
  • Strong computer skills with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience in Microsoft Excel is essential, with a competence with Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas, and other advanced functions.
  • ERP experience is required; Microsoft Navision and Business Central experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective time management skills, including the ability to work efficiently, prioritize projects, and be self-motivated
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • A passion for success, a positive attitude, and a tireless work ethic are all a must
  • Flexibility and willingness to help in any way asked are needed in our team environment
  • Love of the outdoors.  A specific passion for mountain sports such as backcountry skiing, climbing/mountaineering, and/or trail running is a plus.
